| Dear Xanga,
So you haven't heard from me in two and a half years? Wow, sorry about that mate. Let's see...
Done with co-oping. Had some good times with it, but I'm glad I'm not there anymore. Diamondhead I felt like wasn't the town for me nor was the company/location. I don't think I would do well on the coast. I prefer the mountains.
Yes, the mountains, the ability to walk down paths through woods, listen to waterfalls, climb mountains, wake up to the sun dancing off the waves of a pond, my heart just gets pulled in. I know people who love the sea, they sail, they fish, they work on boats, they love the way the ropes and sails feel and sound. But i'm not jealous of them. I'm so glad they have that and that they have found that, but it isn't me.
Dating life. I'm no longer with Jessica. To put things simply, I messed up and we separated. There was a chance for us to get back together but I saw how I felt things wouldn't ever work correctly so I didn't pursue a reconnection with her. This happened about a year and a half ago. Some August. That fall semester was tough, I had a great roommate Trent that really was a positive influence on my life. I will always be indebted to Alex for being my accountability partner. That night we met in the chapel has changed my life forever for the better.
I still lived in Hull but most of my friends were off campus and so I had to stretch myself to become comfortable again with my surroundings. I made friends, met lots of people. One random encounter is one that I'll never forget. I was standing in the lobby and noticed a girl who I'd seen around with other friends but I didn't know her. She had long, dark, rich, curly hair, and the curves to back it up. Her face lit up when she smiled. With much gusto, I introduced myself. She had small hands. She was an artist.
Going to Starkville Cafe at 3 in the morning with a broken heart with someone else with a broken heart is an unforgetable experience.
Being an engineer leads to having an ego, liking knowing when something is pointless. Or so you think.
The Gorillaz do exist. Harry Potter is still in limbo.
When she knows how to find the right pair of jeans and the right leather jacket, you don't argue. You just be glad that they were on sale.
Text messaging without a texting plan can get so expensive that you buy your Dad a GPS unit for Christmas to pay him back for the huge bill you cost him.
It only takes one flower on Valentine's Day.
Driving to the Touscaloosa Krispy Kreme sure can be anti-climatic when you actually see the Krispy Kreme, but you know nothing is sweeter than having someone fall asleep against you on the drive home.
You've never seen someone cry as hard as I've seen someone cry.
I've jumped out of an airplane, but it wasn't worth every penny. I still can't believe I dropped my rip cord and had to pay for it.
Summer school is really hard and really easy at the same time.
Driving to weddings is way better when you have someone to go with you. Interesting how we switched taking the roll as arm candy. But we both do it so well.
Lunch and bowl is one of the top five things about Starkville.
Seven months of long distance is nothing.
Don't catch your girlfriend's best friend's kitchen on fire. Unless you clean up after.
Senior level classes are harder than you think they will be. No, still harder than that, keep studying.
Spend time with you friends. Once they leave college, most don't come back.
Always help an artist work on their project. Sometimes they even let you snap a picture.
Leading a Bible study can be taxing, sometimes leadership is thrust upon you, prepare for handling it by leading a Bible study.
Never back down from an opportunity to make a positive impact in someone's life. Who knows what you might catapult within them to be capable of.
When choosing on a hard decision, always choose love.
Knowing how to avoid a fight is one of the most painful things I've ever learned.
A real man doesn't need to say he's a real man.
Stir within yourself a passion that is uniquely yours, and never stop dreaming about it, never stop pursuing it.
People won't remember you for having a 4.0 gpa, people will remember you for caring.
When given an opportunity to get your hands dirty learning, go get dirty.
Making someone laugh is fundamental to a good relationship.
Don't get your ants in a pants, it's not the only thing you need, but you definitely need laughing.
If you are still reading this, you must be Kim Ladner. I love you

| I have a job! Magnolia, Arkansas. Good Stuff
| | |
| So I locked the keys in my car as I drove home from visiting Jessica
this most recent Monday (good visit, by the way!). I so happened to be
parked at a Wendy's so I ask for a phone book. I call a towing company
out of Hattiesburg (which was 40 minutes away), they tell me it will
cost me $70 (gags). Determined to find a better deal, I call someone
else. They told me to call a local towing company, sometimes they will
unlock car doors. So I call a local towing company, they tell me to
call the local police. I call the local police, they tell me to call
the sheriff's office. I call the sheriff's office, they send out a
deputy sheriff. How much did it cost? Nothing, free. "We provide this
[unlocking doors] as a service to our citizens." Problem solved.
Moral of the story: Call the sheriff, not a locksmith.
Or...
Do
it yourself. If you find yourself near a Wal-Mart or hardware store,
buy some type of strong, durable, sturdy wedge and a long rod. Maybe a
dowel rod or a coat hanger. Whatever you think will work best for your
car. Force the wedge inside your front door between the front door and
back door near the top of the window. Yes, the door will give a little,
and no, the window will not break. Feed your long unlocking gadget
through your new made portal, and viola!, you are in your car. | | |
| so... today i moved away from the main entree world and to the next best thing....
dessert!
